These fingerless mitts are feminine yet functional. Knitted with fingering weight yarn, they feature two small lacy leaves across the back of the hand knitted from a chart. The pattern includes directions for an optional attached rosette for even more feminine flair. The interesting mock-honeycomb borders at both the top and bottom are created from a surprisingly easy slipped stitch pattern. The delicate textures are accentuated by a picot cast-on and bind-off edging.

FAQ

QUESTION:
I'm confused about how to work the Sl 3 WYIF stitch. Do I slip the stitches purl-wise or knit-wise?

ANSWER:
Work the "Sl 3 WYIF" as follows:
1. Bring the yarn to the front of the work between the needles (this is the same action as setting up for a purl stitch from a knit stitch)
2. Slip the next 3 stitches from the left needle to the right needle as if to purl--- you do not want to twist the stitches.
3. Bring the yarn to the back of the work between the needles (this is the same action as setting up for a knit stitch from a purl stitch)
4. Continue by working the next stitch as directed, making sure the yarn lays across the front of the fabric with a medium amount of tension-- you don't want it to sag, nor do you want it to distort the stitches that you slipped.
